Large Scale Agent Based Simulation of Air traffic
Original language description
We describe a multi-agent platform textsc{AgentFly} used for large-scale high-detail simulation of air traffic. The platform introduces spatial and temporal planning within 3D space, multi-layer architecture using several collision avoidance algorithms. To be able to simulate a huge amount of airplanes, distributed simulation is introduced using spatial partitioning and dynamic load-balancing. The platform has been used to support simulation of an entire civilian air traffic touching National Air-Spaceof United States. Thorough evaluation of the system has been performed, confirming that it can scale up to a very high number of complex agents operating simultaneously (thousands of aircraft) with full detailed models.
