The thermoacoustic refrigerator described in this paper is of the standing wave variety, and consists of a quarter-wavelength resonator driven by an electrodynamic transducer. In the case of a thermoacoustic refrigerator the external work is supplied bythe standing sound wave in the resonator. Primary purpose of this apparatus is to demonstrate the principle of an acoustic refrigerator or heat pump.
