Usability Testing of Interface for Emergency Landing Navigation Assistant
Original language description
Emergency landing decision support system (or also navigation assistant) for ultra-light aircraft is a feature for electronic flight instrument systems (EFIS) which are widely used on board of small sport aircrafts. Navigation assistant is intended to navigate pilots in case of a critical situation, mainly engine failure, to the closest possible landing site. To navigate pilot properly it is important to use appropriate interface, which is the topic of this paper. This paper proposes four different navigation paradigms, and presents results from dry-runs. Furthermore it includes methods used for evaluation. As a result a hypothesis regarding which of four interfaces is the best candidate for navigating the pilots is created and future research proposed.
