DETECTION OF HIGH-FREQUENCY ACTIVITY IN IEEG RECORDS OF EPILEPTIC PATIENTS
Original language description
Electroencephalography (EEG) is one of the most frequent neurological examinations. This method uses macro- electrodes placed over the surface of head scalp. Another option is to measure brain activity from inside of the scull. This invasive method is called the intracranial EEG (iEEG). iEEG provides more sensitive measurement with better spatial localization. Patients are examined by this type of examination especially when they suffer from pharmaceutical resistive epileptic disease. One of the graphoelements in EEG is called High Frequency Oscillations (HFOs) and can appear in frequency band over 30 Hz (mostly over 70 Hz). Occurence of HFOs is closely connected with epilepsy desease. For the purpose of objective evaluation of EEG records there is a need of automatic detection of these HFO events. Our goal is to develop and implement algorithm for detection of events with high frequency patterns.
