The goal of this paper is to present a novel structure for potential broadband compensation of dispersion in step-index fibers by using a photonic crystal fiber. Optimal dispersion properties have been achieved in a non-standard octagonal lattice, whichexhibits high design flexibility compared to standard hexagonal lattice.
