Original language description
Africa is a continent endowed with huge energy resources, requisite for sustainable development of the continent. These energy resources, which are widely distributed throughout the continent, include fossil fuels (coal, gas, and oil), uranium, hydro, wind, biomass, solar and geothermal ? non renewable and renewable energy resources. But ironically, Africa is the poorest and most underdeveloped continent in the world. Africa, however, still lags behind other continents of the world with regard to electricity consumption and generation. Electric power in many African countries is still inaccessible, unaffordable, and highly unreliable. Most population in Sub-Saharan Africa has no access to electricity, the worst affected are rural communities. This paper discusses the status of energy resources in Africa, consumption of energy resources in the continent. And the African - Middle-East - European high voltage direct current power lines. It x-rayed the challenges affecting the exploitation
