The present document shows the work developed in activity 6A2—Proof of concept final report, and its goal is to present the achievement of the TROPIC project turned into reality. Towards our goal we have built a real-implementation of the TROPIC system with several key components, interaction and optimization protocols, and proof-of-concept user applications, that were designed throughout the project’s work timeline, as well as newly introduced ones designed and build throughout the timeframe of this activity. In this document we describe the step-by-step system-building side of the implementation, evaluate all the components separately, as well as present a thorough performance evaluation of the system as a whole in a multifaceted way: From the energetic point of view on the UE’s side, execution time, network bandwidth exchanged, as well as CPU load on the femto-cloud system side. The results with the integrated system strongly support the insights the project proposal was built upon, the theoretical, design, and optimization work done throughout the timeframe of the project. Most importantly, the real implementation system performance results show how TROPIC can provide services that, by drastically decreasing the execution time of complex apps and the energy consumption on the UE side, and, at the same time, by keeping the load on the femto-cloud side very low, make both the end-users and the operators happy.
