Electrical monitoring of yeast cells by diamond SGFETs
Original language description
Here we studied the influence of yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on the electrical characteristics of diamond-based solution-gated field effect transistors (SGFETs). Two different solutions for yeast cultivation (sucrose and yeast peptone dextrose (YPD) solution) were used without or with yeast cells. Yeast cells are widely used as basic model of eukaryotic cells in molecular biology and genetics. They are non-polar, non-excitable and non-adherent cells and have stable negative surface charge. These properties are important for well-defined experiments as well as for behavior of cells in solution.
