    The aim of this work is to examine the possibility of fast on-the-fly image processing and regulation of unstable system at once, using simple embedded smart camera with digital signal processor ADSP-BF533 and CMOS image sensor MT9V032. The convolution based algorithm was designed to determine position of inverted pendulum as well as the method of processing measured signals. For positioning of inverted pendulum, a discrete LQ regulator was implemented into the digital signal processor. One of the parts of this paper deals with mechanical parameters of inverted pendulum and optical aberrations of used lens. Results of discussion are used in real construction of system. Designed system is able to work independently and stabilize inverted pendulum using only embedded smart camera without any other sensors nor other processing in PC.
