    Signal Shaper for Flexible Aircraft

  • Original language description

    Lightweight flexible blended-wing-body (BWB) aircraft concept seems as a highly promising configuration for future high capacity airliners which suffers from reduced stiffness. For a reference tracking controller often the flexible modes are excited causing unwanted oscillations. Thus, this paper focuses on designing a signal shaper for the flexible BW aircraft which track the reference while can cancelling the oscillatory effect of the aircraft. The signal shaping controller is developed based on the distributed zero vibration (DZV) principles. The simulation results show that using the DZV controller the wing root forces and moments are reduced. This reduction in the wing root moment's peaks provides potential structural benefits and weight savings.
