Temperature dependent complex permittivity of an agar phantom
Original language description
Microwave hyperthermia applicators are tested with agar phantoms at our university. Temperature of the phantom increases during a power measurement from 20 °C to 30 °C. Since complex permittivity of dielectric materials is generally temperature dependent, there should be also change in complex permittivity of an agar phantom material - temperature dependency of complex permittivity of a liver tissue was studied. In this contribution, we are studying a relationship between the temperature of the agar phantom material and its complex permittivity. Firstly, the measurement procedure is described and validated with measurement on deionized water. Secondly, measurement is performed on the phantom material. Frequency range going from 50 MHz to 3 GHz was chosen to cover the frequencies used in microwave hyperthermia.
