Control Strategy of Buck and Boost Converters Using MATLAB Software

  • Original language description

DC/ DC converters are used to convert the DC voltage from one level to another level. The topologies are like a buck converter which steps down the voltage and boost converter which step up the voltage level. There will be electromagnetic interference due to high switching frequencies in the dc converters. In this paper, the Buck converter and Boost converter using different types of controllers like PI and PID controllers are modelled. The model is designed using MATLAB Simulink. The proportional integral controller is used to decrease the steady state error without affecting the stability of the control system. The proportional integral derivative controller is used to improve the stability of the control system and to decrease steady state errors. The use of these controllers for the buck and Boost converter modelling gives a significant change in the error for a variable load of 10–1000 ohms to achieve a constant output voltage. This will be presented in the paper how these controllers will affect the converters. The load used in this converter is resistive.
