Programmable Symmetrical DC-DC Converter Using SiC Power Components
Original language description
Design, realization, and characteristics of an isolated symmetrical DC-DC converter using silicon carbide (SiC) power switches are presented. The generator is controlled by a microprocessor with an integrated FPGA. All converter parameters like switching frequency, duty cycle, dead times, output voltage, or limit values of output voltage and current can be digitally set from the PC over a serial line. The converter can be used with predefined parameters or with real-time PID regulation. The output voltage can be set from 150 V to 600 V for each pole, meaning peak-to-peak voltage (Vpp) is set between 300 V and 1200 V. Prototype of the proposed converter was constructed using modified half-bridge topology with SiC transistors and rectifier diodes. The prototype was also tested with different frequencies, output voltages, and power. In the end, example waveforms are shown for Vpp = 1200 V and Pout = 500 W.
