Analytical Harmonic Suppression in Overmodulated Sensorless SynRM Drives
Original language description
This paper presents an enhanced sensorless control algorithm for synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM) drives when the inverter operates in the overmodulation region. Although overmodulation improves the utilization of the dclink voltage, it also introduces higher-order harmonics into the inverter output, which in turn affect the stator currents. Since position observers and control algorithms are typically designed under the assumption of purely fundamental waveforms, the presence of these harmonics can significantly degrade their performance. To address this issue, high-order harmonic voltage vectors are analytically synthesized and injected into the machine’s model, allowing the distorting low-order current harmonics to be identified and subsequently eliminated from the measured signals. The algorithm’s performance is evaluated via simulations of Field-Oriented Control (FOC) equipped with Bolognani’s overmodulation of 11-kW SynRM drive.
