    Impedances of Tram Iron Rails

    This paper presents the analysis and computation of internal DC inductance and AC impedance of tram iron rails for large signals with DC and AC currents and high-frequency small signals. DC currents in the rails are considered with high-frequency small AC currents in the modeling of small-signal impedance of the tram rails, which considers the iron saturation. Differential relative magnetic permeability is used in finite element analysis to model a small AC signal impedance at high frequencies. Analytical methods are presented to compare the results with those of the finite element method. Three different materials are considered for tram iron rails. Two different tram rail shapes are analyzed for inductance and impedance analysis.
