Design of Yokeless Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motors for Traction Application
Original language description
The design and analysis of yokeless axial flux permanent magnet motors with segmented stators are presented in this paper. Two machines have double-sided rotors with surface-mounted magnets and a single stator with concentrated windings. Three soft magnetic composites with different magnetic characteristics and losses are used for stator teeth and rotor yokes. The pole numbers are considered 10 and 20 in the design of axial flux machines with the same inner and outer diameters for the stator and rotors. The torques, losses, and efficiencies are compared using three soft magnetic composites for two axial flux PM machines. The finite element method is used to design and analyze axial flux PM machines at various speeds and powers.
