Air Traffic Control represents a fundamental service in civil aviation. Nowadays, the cooperative surveillance systems address the modern requirements on both safety and efficiency of the flight operations, thereby increase the overall quality. However, due to the great loading of the devices and the radio frequency, the systems often face a performance deterioration. This text focuses on the aircraft transponder occupancy causing it not to reply to all of the interrogation arriving at it. Then, a Simulink model is introduced using aqueuing system approach. Finally, the model results related to secondary radar re-interrogation are presented as a possible indicator of the transponder occupancy.
