Influence of Environment and Loading on Failure Processes of Stainless Steel AISI 304L
Original language description
A wide experimental programme is realised in Joint Research Centre, Institute for Energy Petten in the frame of project SAFELIFE. One part of this programme is focused on the study of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance of materials for WWER and PWR core internals materials in simulated reactor conditions by means of slow J-R and standard SCC tests. Stress corrosion cracking tests (SCC) of AISI 304L stainless steel with different degree of cold working has been carried out under BWR condition. Inthe frame of this research fractographic laboratory of Department of Materials FNSPE CTU in Prague was asked to carry out fractographic analysis of six Charpy specimens failed during the SCC tests. The main goal of this analysis was an investigation anddescription of failure mechanisms taking place during SCC of 304L stainless steel.
