Propagation of laser-supported ionization wave in an underdense target

  • Original language description

A one-dimensional model of the propagation of the laser-supported ionization wave in undercritical gases and foams is developed. The ionization takes place in a narrow zone in the front and the downstream laser intensity profile is defined by the balancebetween the incident laser flux and electron heating. The ionization wave in foam targets is slowed down due to the fast ionization of solid elements and their subsequent homogenization.
