Simulation and Experimental Verification of Dose Distributions of Electron Beams

  • Original language description

Accurate dose calculations are very important in radiotherapy treatment planning. The Monte Carlo method proved to be an accurate and reliable method for simulation of the dose distributions from electron beams and can provide more accurate distributionsthan conventional planning systems algorithms. The aim of the presented work was to assess the parameters and spectrum of given electron beam (Varian CLINAC 2100 C/D) from experimental depth dose distribution and simulate dose distributions in experimental arrangement with 3D polymer gel dosimeter. Comparison of experimental data, Monte Carlo calculations, and planning system enable to verify the used simulation model and technique as well as planning system results. Generation and influence of the bremsstrahlung photons in the electron beams was also analyzed using the simulation technique. The used computation and experimental method and acquired results are presented and discussed.
