Some improvements of evaluation of diffusion experiments necessary for assessment of transport of critical radionuclides in barrier materials of the proposed final disposal of spent fuel from the nuclear power plants were discussed. The evaluation of diffusion coefficients in diffusion cells, which enables to connect it directly to the input ando/or output reservoirs without any tubing, utilizes a compartmental model developed in the environmental of the GoldSim transport code. It enables to determine diffusion coeff. for various types of boundary conditions. A set of diffusion experiments with HTO and Cs in compacted bentonite, in which the presence of liters separating the liquid phase form plugs of porous material is indispensable, was evaluated using discussed method. The density of bentonite used and its total porosity after compaction was measured by a simple method.
