Original language description
We have proposed and experimentally verified new method of pulse energy controlling in passively Q-switched lasers. The experiments for a pair of Yb:LuAG as a gain medium and a Cr:YAG as a passive saturable absorber were presented. The concept was proofed, the range of available energy was 145- 510 ?J for longer cavity (pulse duration 12 ns) and 258 ? 430 ?J for shorter cavity (pulse duration 4 ns) for the absorbed pump power of 10 W and duty cycle of 0.02. Notice that we achieved near 90% average powerin passive Q-switching regime comparing to the free-running one. We suppose that the same concept can be exploited for other passively Q-switched lasers as: Nd:YAG-Cr:YAG at 1064 nm, Nd:YAG?V:YAG at 1340 nm etc. The proposed here method can be an alternative to the change of rep. rate exploited in a case of actively Q-switched lasers to pulse energy control.
