CeO2, Eu2O3 and mixed oxides of CeO2-UO2, Eu2O3-UO2 were fabricated. Both mixed oxides play an important role in the research of nuclear fuel cycle, because cerium has been utilized as a surrogate for plutonium, whereas europium has been utilized as a surrogate for minor actinides(III). The preparative method is based on irradiation of aqueous solutions containing cerium/europium (and uranyl) nitrate and ammonium formate. The efficiency of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation was studied - solutionswere irradiated either by accelerated electrons or UV radiation (medium or low pressure mercury lamps). For the characterization of solid phase, XRPD (X-Ray Powder Diffraction) and XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) were used. Similar method was recently successfully used for the fabrication of (Th,U)O2 [T.
