Effect of shielding gas on residual stresses and mechanical properties of laser welding of S355 steel
Original language description
This article assesses the impact of the behaviour of the molten bath, penetration geometry, mechanical properties and residual stress surface distribution of laser welded joints. For classical fusion welding is known effect of exothermic or endothermic effect of the shielding gas used according to its dissociation energy. The experiments verify this behaviour also for laser welding, where much higher rate of melting and cooling can affect the laser welding in compassion with other welding methods.
