Shopping Malls: Localization, Part of the Urban Environment
Original language description
The retail typology has undergone a precipitous development in the 20th century. While the original shop created a lively public space thanks to its orientation towards street, today's shopping mall is the exact opposite. The shopping mall typology originating from suburban realm does not really fit into an existing city tissue because of its scale and introvert orientation. However, recent development shows the shopping mall typology might be outdated which would offer a possibility to introduce new design solutions.
