Pressure Cost of Volume Delivery In HFOV at Different Ventilatory Frequencies
Original language description
Ventilatory pressures and tidal volume were measured during high frequency oscillatory ventilation in the ventilatory circuit. The circuit consisted of ventilator 3100 with patient circuit, lung simulator 5600i and monitor Florian for measuring of tidalvolume. A special device for synchronous measurement of pressure at three places was used for analysis of pressure waves in the ventilatory circuit. Pressure amplitudes and tidal volume was measured for different values of alveolar compliance that was set on the model. Measurement was repeated for ventilatory frequencies 3, 5, 7 and 10 Hz. Ventilatory parameters were held constant during the experiment. We have found that change of alveolar compliance has minimal effect on the pressure cost of ventilation.
