Impact of the Number of ECG Leads on the Noninvasive Localization of Premature Ventricular Activity
Original language description
Body surface potentials from 96 ECG leads, individual torso models based on CT scans and inverse solution to one dipole were used for noninvasive localization of the focus of ectopic ventricular activity in five patients with frequent premature complexes. The influence of the number of ECG leads used for the inverse solution on the accuracy and stability of the localization was studied using both, homogeneous or inhomogeneous torso models. When the homogeneous torso models were used, the localization of the focus was quite stable and reduction to 64 or 48 leads preserved the acceptable accuracy of the solution. When inhomogeneous torso models were used in the inverse computations, already a reduction from 96 to 64 used ECG leads resulted in several incorrect localizations.
