Evaluation of using reduced number of mapping leads for noninvasive localization of ectopic ventricular activity

  • Original language description

Background: Noninvasive finding of the ventricular ectopic activity focus before the EPS can significantly shorten time of the ablation procedure. Presented method allows localizing of the focus by solving the inverse problem of electrocardiography and finding a single dipole model that best represents the initial ectopic activity. Such solution requires measurement of body surface ECG potentials (BSPs) in many torso points and realistic 3D patient torso model. Goal: The aim of the study was to test how far is it possible to reduce the number of measured surface ECG leads without significant decrease of accuracy or stability of the inverse solution. Conclusion: Inverse location of the PVC focus was quite robust when the HT model was used: reduction to 64 or 48 leads preserved acceptable stability and accuracy of the solution. With the IT model, already reduction to 64 leads resulted in several incorrect locations.
