The MATLAB Toolbox for Animal 3D Brain Mapping and Significant Probability Mapping
Original language description
Measurements on animals are important in pre-clinical practice. The aim of our study was to develop a software module for animal brain-mapping. Topographical maps are an excellent and nearly ubiquitously used method for showing the spatial distribution of EEG results. In open literature, EEG measurement on animal models has not a standardized system. Adaptive system for the 3D brain-mapping, that we developed, is in animal research necessary. In MATLAB software we developed toolbox called BRAINBOX to perform 3D brain-mapping technique via 3D spline algorithm and via spherical spline algorithm. We used brain model of Wistar rat from BAR atlas for testing purpose. Our results showed that the 3D spline interpolation method with the projection on sphere gives significantly better 3D potential map than spherical spline interpolation method. The module for significant probability mapping (SPM) was successfully implemented. We tested this module by using RANOVA and baseline correction for two parameters: the absolute power and the relative power, both in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 50 Hz with 1 Hz step. We tested this utility in pharmaco-EEG in Wistar rats. Using this module, we proofed that there are significant differences after administration of psilocin to Wistar rats.
