Reliability Analysis of a Portal Frame
Original language description
The portal frame is designed using recommendations provided in EN 1990 and EN 1993. The structure is loaded by permanent actions, snow load and wind load, which induces outside pressure and suction. Lateral-torsional buckling yields the most critical criterion. The reliability analysis is based on the design criterion for lateral-torsional buckling. Probabilistic models of basic variables are used in accordance with models proposed by Join Committee for Structural Safety. The time invariant reliabilityanalysis uses the approximation of a load time variation by the Turkstra's rule. The time variant reliability analysis uses jump processes with imntermittencies. According to the results of the time invariant analysis, the reliability of the structure seems to be acceptable. The results obtained by the time variant analysis are more favourable. The cross-section designed in accordance with Eurocodes is adequate.
