Wire patterned glass is currently applied in a number of existing and new building structures. A wire mesh should prevent from brittle failure and subsequent collapse of structural members. A load-bearing element made of the wire patterned glass should be designed considering relevant material properties. Unrealistic design strengths have been recently reported and assumed in the verification of wire patterned glass structures. The paper discusses the use of the wire patterned glass and proposes partialfactors for the glass strength based on previous experience and limited experimental data.
