    Directional Fast Neutron Detector based on Timepix Coupled to Plastic Scintillator SiPM Array

    Directional Fast Neutron Detector is based on position sensitive silicon detector Timepix combined with scintillator coupled to array of silicon photomultipliers. Proton recoiled by fast neutron in scintillating material generates scintillatong light along its track and generates the charge in pixel detector at the end. Scintillating light is sensed by 4x4 array of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). Four central segments are lead out and processed in four independent signal paths with amplifier and comparator. The comparator threshold allows change the sensitivity. Logical signals from comparators are processed in FPGA. When the coincidence condition is fulfilled the acquisition is started. The condition is configurable through USB interface. Each neutron-proton collision is marked by trigger signal so the background signal is suppressed.
