Original language description
Mesenchymal stem cells are due to their unique properties promising candidates for use in regenerative medicine, whose main objective is to restore the structure and function of damaged cells and tissues. The formation and regeneration of tissues involves not only stem cells, but also chemicals that are released into the environment by cells in response to damage and other stimuli. Regenerative medicine uses both - autologous cells, which are taken from the patient to whom they are subsequently implanted, and allogeneic, the donor being a person other than the receiving patient. Another possibility is the use of embryonic stem cells, which however brings ethical problems. The use of allogeneic cells and transplants is often associated with the patient's immunological response and subsequent rejection of the transplant. Therefore, the use of autologous cells is the most advantageous. This cell therapy could improve the quality of life for people suffering from a disease that results in tissue damage.
