    Article on international virtual conference and article in collection 4th Proceeding in Advanced Research in Scientific Areas, 2015 (ISBN 978-80-554-1126-2, ISSN 2453-6962) Abstract: A new sensitive and selective colorimetric detection tube for the riot control agents CS (o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile) and CN (ω-chloroacetophenone) in air samples has been developed. The detection relies on the chromogenic reaction between the target agents and 4-chloro-5,7-dinitrobenzofurazan, which proceeds under alkaline conditions to form orange or red products. The new tubes can detect trace quantities of CS and CN (with limits of detection of 0.09 μg and 0.9 μg, respectively) under both laboratory and field conditions.
