Modification of clay intercalate structure and properties of TPO based nanocomposites
Original language description
Intercalated montmorillonite (MMT) is the most important organoclay for production of polymer/clay nanocomposites. Understanding the structure properties relationship is crucial for the succesful development of new materials based on organiccaly modofiedclays. Structure analysis based on X-ray diffraction and computional molecular modeling reveals details of Na-MMT intercalated with octadecylamine. Properties of polypropylene and polyethylene nanocomposite films prepared from clays intercalated with octadecylamine by ion-dipole method and with alkylammonium organocations intercalated by more conventional ionexchange method are discused.
