Study of Structure, Properties and Modifications of Hyaluronic acid and other polysacharides
Original language description
Hyaluronic acid forms in aqueous solution rigid domains built up from about 10-20 monomer units strongly bound by the system of intra - and inter - molecular hydrogen bonds, thus producing its characteristic of secondary and tertiary configurations. These structures could be strongly influenced by insertion on n-alkyl spacers as a branch into this system. For this reason, there were prepared of n-hexyl, and n-octyl deriivates of hyaluronic acid by the procedure described by J. Machr, R. A. Johnstone andM. E. Rose. The polyelectrolyte properties were studied with respect to content of alkyl spacers. The alkylation is reflected in FTIR spectra, DTG and DSC curves as well. Introduction of these spacers increase also induction period of diffusion process of dissolution and decrease of velocity of dissolution as well as a result of polarity of polymer chain changes.
