Possibilities in employing wastes from tanning and meat industries
Original language description
In the course of leather production, considerable quantities of both non-tanned protein wastes and also tanned wastes are produced. The work is focused on processing chrome-tanned shavings, the matter in question concerns various ways of dechromating shavings, isolating sludges containing chrome, and producing collagen hydrolysates. A further source of collagaen proteins are materials of animal origin. Various types of collagen are represented in them, particularly in hide, tendons and intestines. Withthese sorts of wastes, the work is focused on various modes of their p rocessing and on obtaining gelatine or collagen hydrolysate.
