Injection-molded Polypropylene: Structure vs. Mold Temperature
Original language description
It is well known that the processing parameters strongly influence the final morphology of the injection-molded polypropylene. In this work, relationship between the structure of the injection molded sample and the mold temperature has been investigated.Pure and beta-nucleated isotactic polypropylene has been injection molded into the mold with different temperatures. The final morphology of the samples has been characterized by polarized light microscopy and WAXD. It has been found that the crystallinity, the relative amount of beta -modification and the spherulite size increase with the mold temperature, whereas the skin layer thickness decreases.
