Crystallization of Nucleated Polypropylenes
Original language description
Polypropylene is one of the most commonly used thermoplastics because of its versatility. As with all thermoplastics, it is important to characterize the thermophysical properties of polypropylene, including melting temperature, percent of crystallinity, crystallization when cooling from the melt. Specially, isotactic polypropylene is very sensitive to thermal history which strongly influences its final supermolecular structure. The isothermal crystalization test provides valuable information on polymerincluding # molecular weight distrubution, presence of recyclates, plasticizers, nucleating agents, pigments or other additives, etc. There is a need to test semicrystalline polymers for these particular properties therefore they can significantly affect their subsequent structure obtained during processing. The aim of this work is to prove a possibility to analyse the isothermal crystallization of b-nucleated PP using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
