Characterization of Isothermal Crystallization of Polypropylene by DSC
Original language description
Isotactic polypropylene (iPP) is one of the most commonly used thermoplastics because of its versatility. The polymer exhibits excellent chemical resistance, low density, high tensile strength and relatively high melting point. These mentioned propertiesgenerally result from supermolecular structure. Structure and morphology of iPP is very sensitive to thermomechanical conditions imposed during solidification from the melt. Therefore it is very important to study crystallization behavior of the polymers, namely isotactic polypropylene. The aim of this work is to study process of the isothermal crystallization of beta nucleated PP using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), determination of heat of fusion and subsequent structural investigation of isothermally crystallized samples.
