Original language description
Relaxation behavior at temperature down-jump stimulated physical aging has been studied through enthalpy and volume relaxation employing differential scanning calorimetry and mercury-in-glass dilatometry. The investigated polymer was PC used for injection molding of compact discs. The data was treated in terms of Tool-Narayanaswamy-Moynihan (TNM) model with the conclusion that enthalpy relaxation has a narrower spectrum of relaxation times than corresponding relaxation in volume. Further, an apparent bulk modulus, Ka, was calculated as united contribution of volume and enthalpy relaxation to physical aging. On the whole, a constant relationship was found between both relaxed quantities for the investigated polymer. The calculated values of Ka fall intothe range reasonably close of K determined by direct compression.
