    Characterization of polymeric biocomposite based on poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)

    Biocompatible and easily available materials from dairy industry waste were used for modification of watersoluble polymeric blend of poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone). Both modifiers (lactose and calcium lactate) are suitable for modification of these polymers, which can be convenient from economical and environmental point of view.

    Biokompatibilní a snadno dostupná materiály z odpadu z mlékárenského průmyslu byly použity pro modifikaci polymesní směsi dvou vodorozpustných polymerů: polyvinylalkoholu a polyvinylpyrrolidonu.Výsledky naznačují, že jak laktoza tak i mléčnan vápenatý jsou vhodné pro modifikaci těchto polymerů jak z pohledu ekonomického, tak z pohledu ochrany životního prostředí.
