Impact of wearing diabetic footwear with different rigidity on the distribution of plantar pressures

  • Original language description

The values determined for plantar pressure fluctuated in the range from 250 kPa to 320 kPa. Footwear rigidity, like the angle of incline, did not affect the values of tread force and the contact surface of the sole, which is very beneficial primarily from a practical standpoint, because according to available foreign studies, diabetics are recommended to wear footwear with a highly rigid sole (Conner, H. Boulton, A., Cavanagh. P. The foot in Diabetes. 2000). This demonstrates that such footwear does notendanger the health of a diabetic and at the same time does not increase the risk of pressure load on the foot, during which injury or ulcerations could occur.

Vliv nošení diabetické obuvi s rozdílnou tuhostí na distribuci plantárních tlaků

  • Czech description

P. The foot in Diabetes. 2000).
