Properties of interpenetrating polymer networks based on epoxy resin and polyurethane
Original language description
Polyurethanes (PUR) obtained from polyethylene glycols (PEG) and polyoxopropylene diols (POPD) were used as modifiers for epoxy resin Epidian 5. It was found that the addition of 10% nad 15% PUR to the epoxy ersin resulted in enhancement of impact strength, critical stress intensity factor as well as the flexural strength. Moreover, it was observed that shorter flexible segments in PUR obtained from lower molecular weight PEG gives stronger composites, while composites obtained with PUR based on lower molecular weight POPD with longer flexible segments exhibited higher energy and strain at break but lower impact strength.
