Electrorheological behavior under oscillatory shear of TiO2 rod-like particles prepared via microwave-assisted molten-salt synthesis
Original language description
Molten-salt synthesis has been employed in this study for the synthesis of rod-like TiO2 particles. The morphology of prepared TiO2 powder was investigated via scanning electron micrograph. The ER properties of ER fluids under investigation were measuredusing a rotational rheometer under oscillatory shear flow modified for ER experiments. Rod-like particles suspension exhibits higher ER performance probably due to better particle polarization given by the anisotropic structure of these particles compared to spherical particles of original TiO2 particles of anatase phase. Detailed investigation of changes in ER properties of prepared suspensions as a function of particles concentration and electric field strength applied was also performed in this study.
