Glass Fiber Silicone Composite Antenna Based on CNTs Decorated by Ag Nanoparticles
Original language description
Portable devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, use antennas for communication with surround environment. Usually antenna is made of metal base material. In this paper is demonstrated possibility to use the polymer base material. The composition is glass fiber laminate with integrated carbon nanotubes layer. The carbon nanotubes for this application were decorated by silver nanoparticles (Fig1). This technique improves electrical conductivity. Carbon nanotubes layer with silver nanoparticles was made by vacuum filtration. The laminate is very flexible and durable because of two parts silicone rubber use. The preparation technique is vacuum infusion which is widely used in industry production of laminates. Main advantages of this concept are that prepared material is very light, stabile during using, durable and resistant against scratching and mechanical damage. Presented antenna can be integrated into the composite structure as a passive element. Measured antenna has gain (-16.6 dB) at 1.3 GHz the results are showed on (Fig2). All measurements of the prepared experimental antenna were performed in the anechoic chamber using the N9912A FieldFox Handheld RF spectrum analyzer with a measuring range within 2 MHz to 4 GHz. SEM analyzes were made with the use of FEI Nova NanoSEM 450. TEM analyzes were made with the use JEOL JEM 2100.
