The biocompatibility of electrically conducting polymers
Original language description
Conducting polymers (CP) intrinsically combine electronic and ionic conductivity. This properties of CP can be employed in preparation of biointerface between the conventional biomaterials and electro-sensitive tissues. Two most common studied CP are polypyrrole (PPy) and polyaniline (PANI). Both has been previously tested in number of copolymers and composites with aim to provide a biomaterial with advanced properties. There is however no study comparing their biological properties such as. Thanks to the broad experience of our laboratory with determination of biological properties of materials, we decided to study both mentioned CP and compares their biocompatibility.
