    LDPE hybrid nanocomposites from the perspective of their flammability

    Polymer nanocomposites as foundation of nanotechnology have still attracted a scientific interest and their field of application is expanding. One of the areas of interest of scientist community is the effect of nanofillers on the flame behaviour of polymers. The presented research deals with polymer hybrid nanocomposites based on low density polyethylene (LDPE). The polymer matrix was modified with different type of nanofillers (POSS, Grafmax, Nanocyl, Perkalite, Dragonite). The present study deals with the evaluation of the effect of nanofiller on the flammability of tested mixtures with traditional flame retardant ADK and Exolite. Further, the influence of different concentrations of nanofillers and traditional flame retardant was evaluated. Next to the flammability, the mechanical and rheological properties were tested. From the results could be concluded, that nanofillers in certain concentration could affected the flammability of tested materials. Furthermore, the avoidance of dripping during combustion was observed. From the viewpoint of mechanical properties was enhanced deformation of some tested materials.
