Based on her research the author looks at the way foreign languages for specific purposes are studied and taught at Colleges and Faculties in some of the EU member countries, particularly UK, Portugal and Finland. The article does not only compare the possibilities of studying foreign languages at Universities but also the approach of these countries to foreign language education. The author also deals with distance learning in foreign language studies in Great Britain.
