Success in today?s competitive markets is determined primarily by human capital, not physical capital and hence it is strongly advocated greater firm investments in training in order to provide better knowledge, skills and capabilities for employees rather than their competitors. There are many evidences that investments in employee development can pay huge dividends that will take their organization to the next level. This paper elaborates whether the quality of employees and their development throughtraining and education determine the long-term profitability of a firm and how training and development can be integrated strategically and executed effectively with organizational strategic objectives.
